Derek’s interest in the production industry began at a young age, providing lighting and sound solutions to bands and art projects in high school, and continued working in various capacities for Virginia Commonwealth University’s concert committee.  For 30 years, he worked to combine his passion for visual arts and electronics, utilizing skills acquired at VCUarts and TESST School of Technology.  With credits including numerous red carpet events for Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks, and working as a crew chief for the Coachella  Music Festival, he has settled down in Maryland and brings his expertise in live event production to the Image Engineering warehouse.
