John is the oldest of the Suehle brothers, originally sparking the family’s interest in lasers and special effects in their back yard. From a young age, John has been building lasers out of whatever he could find. Originally, John started by modifying surplus medical lasers into units suitable for shows.  

Now, John holds a Ph.D in electrical engineering and designs some of the best special effects systems and custom effect solutions currently on the market. Having spent thirty years with the National Institute of Standards and Technology, John retired six years ago and joined Image Engineering full time to lead the Engineering team in pushing the boundaries of current special effects and visual effect technologies. John also serves as the Corporate Laser Safety Officer for Image Engineering and frequently hold laser safety training classes for new team members, vendor partners and clients.
