CFP National Championship: 2019

2019 was Image Engineering’s fourth year providing pyrotechnics and special effects support for the College Football Playoff National Championship and Fiur Productions. Playing in an outdoor stadium provided the opportunity to utilize rooftop pyro and add another layer that is sometimes missing when playing at an indoor facility.

With experience working in Levi Stadium and with the local AHJ due to providing game day effects for the 49ers, the Image team was able to leverage that knowledge and close working relationships to develop a plan over the course of six months for 360 degree rooftop pyrotechnics display without any seat kills. This was the first time in Levi’s Stadium history that this had ever been accomplished.

The result was a stunning pyrotechnics display from the national anthem to player introductions, in-game scores and a 30-second post game celebration display. Network television was able to provide aerial coverage giving a unique vantage point for over 20 million television viewers worldwide.

In addition to the pyrotechnics package, Image Engineering also provided a player introduction field package that consisted of CO2 jet tunnel towers creating a wall of fog for players to run through, a 20′ gauntlet with a combination of sparkulars and pyrotechnics and flame towers which produced 25′ flame effects.
