PERMANENT INSTALLATION

Rutgers Football:
Lighting Installation

In 2020, Image Engineering was approached by Rutgers Football to provide a player tunnel lighting experience that would amp up their players prior to games and for stadium tour purposes on non-game days. They wanted something that would be completely unique that is not often seen at the collegiate level.

The Image design team wanted a uniform wash, a direct view fixture for the camera, and aerial beams to permeate the entire 130′ length of the walk. The design team decided on (60) linear LED pixel control fixtures for the wash effect and additional pixel tube fixtures in a vertical position on the tunnel walls. The team selected (16) LED moving head fixtures stationed throughout the walk to create aerial beams. In addition to the lighting, Image integrated a massive backlit Rutgers’ “R” at the base of the tunnel. The lighting installation was coupled with a control system connected to the stadium’s control room for a synchronized playback with all other stadium assets on game day. Finally, a stand-alone touch panel was installed immediately outside the tunnel for easy triggering during tours.

The new tunnel lighting system was debuted on the first regular season home game of the 2020 season. The players and coaching staff were ecstatic with their new introduction and the Rutgers team has solidified themselves as one of the first in collegiate football to have an NFL style player tunnel lighting walk.
