US Open Tennis

2016 marked a special milestone for the United States Tennis Association and the US Open –  the debut of a new roof on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

After using pyrotechnics to cap off previous opening ceremonies, USTA and Fiur Productions needed a new ‘wow’ factor to start the Open. For that wow, they chose Image Engineering’s Light Vector Lasers powered by Beam Composer. Due to the remote location of the show control position and extensive lighting rig, Beam Composer was a natural choice for laser control. Beam Composer was able to integrate with the effects engine and allow for simple, synchronized control with the rest of the lighting rig. (8) 25w scanning lasers and (6) 10w crowd scanning lasers were used to support Sting’s powerful performance.
